Nanosilver in waste water can cause severe environmental damage if it occurs as a metal. A new study shows that nanosilver can be quickly transformed into less problematic substances when it is on its way to the waste water treatment plant. In addition, it can be efficiently retained in the sewage sludge so that only a small portion of it reaches the water systems.
