Triclosan : A common antimicrobial found in hygiene products can lead to liver fibrosis and cancer

Triclosan is one of the most common ingredient of Soaps, shampoos, toothpaste and many other household items. Recent studies and research has proven that usage of Triclosan over a period of time results in causing liver fibrosis and cancer. The study suggests triclosan may do its damage by interfering with the constitutive androstane receptor, a protein responsible for detoxifying (clearing away) foreign chemicals in the body. To compensate for this stress, liver cells proliferate and turn fibrotic over time. Repeated triclosan exposure and continued liver fibrosis eventually promote tumor formation
